We are a team of clinicians and researchers affiliated with the Centre for Mathematics of Precision Healthcare and Patient Safety Translational Research Centre of Imperial College London. Our work explores the notion of health systems as densely connected networks of patients and healthcare providers.
As clinicians, often our practice is not limited by the availability of an expensive new drug, or a 'state of the art' machine, but by the availability of clinical information and the efficient movement of patients through our health systems. Using the latest techniques in data science and network analysis we have designed a series of tools to better understand how healthcare is provided, and importantly how these complex systems may be improved.
Making the most of the data available around us is the basis of our work. We combine publicly available datasets relating to demography, geography and society with patient-level administrative healthcare data to produce a rich undertsanding of how health systems behave.
