This study examined the relationship between recent political events and the likelihood of work within a local authority being automated in the coming decades.
The map below is composed of three layers, the first layer shows the likelihood of workforce automation, while the other layers may be added using the button in the top right corner to show
the results of the 2019 general election and the proportion of each local authority voting to leave the European Union in the 2016 referendum.
A clear positive correlation is observed between the proportion of local authorities voting to leave the EU and the risk of automation. Similarly, many of the constituencies gained by the
Conservative Party in the North of England are located in areas at high risk of automation.
